Nova Scotia invited immigration candidates

Nova Scotia invited immigration candidates to apply for provincial nomination on 24 September.

The Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP) issued a draw eligibility criterion for express entry candidates, but did not state how many invitations were sent.

Candidates are required to have a primary occupation in one of the following two National Occupational Classification (NOC) codes: Automotive Body Repair (NOC 7322) or Automotive Service Technician, Truck and Bus Mechanics and Mechanical Repairman (NOC 7321).

Invited candidates are also required to demonstrate that they have two or more full-time or equivalent part-time experience in these occupations within the first five years prior to application.

They required a Canadian language benchmark of at least five in all English language abilities. They should include copies of language tests and proof of education with their application for provincial nomination. The proof of education must include an Educational Credential Assessment Report, issued by an organization designated by Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada if your educational credential was obtained outside of Canada.

In addition, candidates should complete a program of two or more years in a secondary institution such as a university, college or trade school.

Candidates invited to submit their applications for provincial nomination for permanent residency in Canada have until October 24.

The Labor Market Priorities Stream of Nova Scotia invites immigration candidates based on the labor market needs of the province. It is Nova Scotia’s first provincial nominee program (PNP) since May, when the province invited nurses to the express entry pool.

Express entry candidates invited

To be considered for a provincial nomination from Nova Scotia via a labor market priority stream, candidates first need a profile in the express entry system.

Express Entry manages applications for permanent residency in Canada through three federal immigration programs: the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), and the Canadian Experience Class (CEC).

Express entry candidates are ranked in the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). They are awarded marks based on factors such as their age, work experience, education and language ability in English or French.

Now that Nova Scotia has issued invitations, also known as Letters of Interest, invited candidates now have 60 calendar days to complete their application for provincial nomination.

If they receive a provincial nomination from Nova Scotia, they will automatically be awarded an additional 600 CRS points, effectively guaranteeing that they will receive an invitation (ITA) to apply in subsequent express entry draws.
