Manitoba invites 123 candidates to apply for provincial nomination – 7th May 2020

Manitoba invited 123 immigration candidates to apply for a provincial nomination on May 7th May 2020. Letters of Advice to Apply were sent to skilled workers, international student graduates, and Express Entry candidates

The invited candidates had profiles Manitoba’s Expression of Interest (EOI) pool, and came from three Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) streams. Of these candidates, 14 had a valid Express Entry profile.

The Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) issued in this invitation round were distributed as follows:

The MPNP has issued 1,931 LAAs so far this year. This is Manitoba’s 89th draw since the program began in April 2014.

Express Entry

The 14 Express Entry candidates invited for a provincial nomination in the May 7 MPNP draw now have the chance to boost their application to the top of the Express Entry pool.

Express Entry candidates are ranked based on a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). Scores are calculated based on human capital factors such as age, work experience, education, and language ability in one of Canada’s two official languages.

The highest-scoring candidates are invited to apply for Canadian permanent residence through regular draws from the Express Entry pool.

Those who receive a provincial nomination are awarded an additional 600 CRS points and are effectively guaranteed an invitation to apply from Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

Express Entry candidates who received a provincial nomination from Manitoba in this draw declared a valid Express Entry ID and provided a job seeker validation code.

They also needed to have a file in Manitoba’s EOI system.

Manitoba’s Expression of Interest system

In order to be invited to apply for a provincial nomination from Manitoba through both the Skilled Workers in Manitoba and Skilled Workers Overseas categories, candidates need to register an EOI with the MPNP.

An EOI is an online profile that is ranked out of a score of 1,000. Points are awarded for a candidate’s education, work experience, connections to Manitoba and proficiency in English or French, among other factors.

In the latest draw, candidates invited under the Skilled Workers in Manitoba Stream had a score of 475.

The lowest-ranked candidate invited from the Skilled Workers Overseas Stream had a score of 802.

Skilled Workers Overseas and Skilled Workers in Manitoba

The Skilled Workers Overseas Category allows the MPNP to select and nominate skilled foreign workers who can help support Manitoba’s labour market.

Candidates must have an established connection to Manitoba such as close family or friends, previous education or work experience in the province, or an invitation through one of the MPNP’s Strategic Recruitment Initiatives, among other requirements.

They do not need to be in Manitoba at the time of application in order to be eligible.

The candidates invited through the Skilled Workers Overseas Stream were invited directly by the MPNP under a Strategic Recruitment Initiative.

The candidates invited through the Skilled Workers in Manitoba category must have a full-time, permanent job offer from a Manitoba employer, among other criteria.
