Four provinces – Ontario, British Columbia (BC), Quebec and Alberta – have invited candidates through their respective provincial immigration programs this week.
Except for Nunavut and Quebec, every province and territory in Canada uses the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), under which a number of skilled economic immigrant candidates are selected whom the local government believes are best suited to help meet the territory’s local labour market challenges and demographic needs.
Comment: Quebec does not operate a PNP because its government has a special agreement with the federal government. This agreement allows Quebec to retain authority over its economic immigration.

Provincial Immigration Results from July 20 to July 26
Ontario
Ontario held a PNP draw this week, issuing 209 Notifications of Interest (NOIs) through the Express Entry Human Capital Priority stream of the Ontario Immigrant Nomination Program (OINP).
These invitations were issued on 25 July 2024.
This draw was targeted at general practitioner and family physician candidates (National Occupation Classification (NOC) 31102) who met the following criteria:
British Columbia
On July 23, British Columbia held two more British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP) draws.
Previously, in a general draw, BC issued 35 invitations to immigration candidates from the following five BCPNP streams:
- skilled worker
- Skilled Workers – Express Entry British Columbia (EEBC) Option
- International Graduates
- International Graduates – EEBC Option
- Entry Level & Semi-Skilled
Comment: Qualified candidates from all streams except one (“entry level and semi-skilled”) needed a minimum score of 134 to receive an invitation through the general draw on July 23. Entry level and semi-skilled candidates, on the other hand, needed a minimum score of 110.
BC also held a targeted draw on July 23. During this draw, the province issued a total of over 73 invitations to candidates in four occupational categories. The invitations were divided as follows:
- 37 invitations issued to child care candidates with minimum 91 points
- Invitations were issued to 17 candidates from the construction sector achieving a minimum of 92 marks.
- 19 invitations issued to healthcare candidates with a minimum of 104 marks
- Less than five invitations were issued to veterinary care candidates with a minimum of 80 points
Quebec
Quebec has retroactively released the results of the draw held on June 27, 2024.
Comment: The Arima Bank withdrawal date for this draw was 25 June 2024, two days prior to the draw.
On June 27, Quebec invited 1,528 candidates who met the following criteria to apply for permanent selection:
- A level of oral proficiency in French that is equivalent to level 7 or higher according to Quebec’s French proficiency scale for adult immigrants (Échelle québécoise deslevels de compétition en français) or its equivalent
- Score equal to or more than 581 marks
- A valid job offer outside of the Montreal Metropolitan Community
Any foreign national who has received an invitation from the province can now apply for a Quebec Selection Certificate.
Alberta
Alberta is one of two Canadian provinces (the other being Quebec) that releases the results of its provincial immigration draws retroactively.
This week, the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) released the results of the July 2 provincial draw, under which the Alberta government issued 37 Notification Letters (NOIs) to candidates with CRS scores above 300 in the “Dedicated Healthcare Pathway with Alberta Job Offer” category.
The minimum CRS score for all candidates invited in this AAIP draw was 301.
